Cute Incident which taught great lessons

It was a big day in life, for a little girl of 10years it was really a very big day, I am turning back the pages of my life exactly to 16 years back, huh such a long time back I know, but the lush green memory of that day still stays in my mind and will remain there forever. I suddenly remembered this because I saw a cute little girl in television holding the mike in her playful hands and singing.

Here I go down my memory lane
One bright sunny afternoon I was playing anthakshari (each person sings a song and the next person sings from the ending letter of the previous song) I am sure most of you are aware of this game, not wondering how my voice would sound I used to enjoy this game. It was that day when the orchestra uncle noticed me and spoke with my parents and asked if they could send their little one to sing on stage, my parents were surprised by this approach and told him they would let him know.

It was my mom who came to me that evening and narrated the conversation between my parents and orchestra uncle and asked me if I would want to go ahead, pat came my reply ‘yes I will go and sing’, my mom was surprised because I had replied without thinking, so she asked me again and again if I was sure, for which my reply remained the same and every time with more anxiety to sing. The next day I went to the uncle’s place and told I would like to sing, and I was given a song with its lyrics and then started my training for that song for few days, until I could sing the song perfectly and yes I was all set to go.

The most awaited day had come, there was huge crowd in the hall and there was a formal prayer session and then the function started and one by one everyone’s turn came and they went up to the stage and started singing. I was just holding my mom’s hand and sitting and thinking when my name will be announced, when it was announced loudly, I ran like a deer to the stage and took the mike in my hand for the first time and felt so happy from within and sang the song which I had practiced for so many days, the audience out there were able to hear my voice and I was constantly moving my eyes to get a glance of everyone sitting out there. Finally I finished singing and went back and sat next to my mom with a satisfaction and with a feel that I had achieved something, before the function ended there was an appreciation and garland ceremony held for all the singers, and it included me also and everyone out there gave me a standing ovation, reason I was the youngest singer there………….. everyone had like me singing and as I stepped down from the stage with the big garland, and was walking my way to my parents, many people came and congratulated me and shook hands with me and appreciated my voice and told it was sweet of me to perform on stage at such a young age, honestly speaking I didn’t know if I sang well or not, but I really liked the appreciation going forward This also made me confident in facing the audience when i stood on stage for my future performances. Ever since I got lot of appreciations and critics which helped me in improvising myself. Though it all happened years back, the confidence and boldness which I learnt will never vanish from my life.
