Malgudi Days With My Husband

Last night I was watching the unforgettable serial The Malgudi Days with my husband, I simply loved the character swamy played by master manjunath, and his innocence is at its peak… I had heard a lot about this serial but watched it for the first time and was amazed by the simplicity of the serial.
Malgudi is described as a small town in South India and I am under an impression that it could be any town, anywhere, for
its truths are universal. When I Look in to the small streets I see interesting characters like beggars, servants,
masters and their world. There are personalities at special moment in their lives or at the time of the crisis of spirit. Rich
and the poor, they too love Malgudi and worship and believe with hope and dream and so it reflects all human nature
that is bestowed on them. The best part of this serial is it’s not a story about any kings or demons it’s about ordinary people, but it takes an author like R K Narayan to find such stories from these characters and a director like Shankar Nag to direct it as told in the story, which touches the heart and remains there..
I enjoyed the scene where our hero, swamy fears to sleep alone and does all sorts of pranks to escape from the situation, well all these reminds me of my childhood days, when life was very simple and easy and when everything and everyone seemed to be happy…. Honestly speaking each scene in Malgudi appeals to me and makes me feel like visiting the simple village Malgudi once in my lifetime… Most of us were like Swamy during our childhood, having our own fears, enjoying life with friends and did not know life much and mainly didn’t have tension or worry about future…
As a kid my main fear was the mathematics test conducted by Mrs. James whom I hated to the core of my heart.. Poor lady she ensured that I solve the problems on my own… But do we find such good hearted teachers even now, who are concerned about the student’s future, I am not sure……
Those were the simple days when we did not play with the I-Pods, video games and computer, we went out to play with our friends, of all hide and seek was the most played game as we all enjoyed it very much. Gone are the days when life was filled with simplicity and fun.
Well I’m not against the technology or people using it, I myself am sitting and blogging this through my laptop, which was once upon a time a luxury for me. Technology has become a necessity in today’s world no doubt about that….

One small thought which came to my mind was in the name of technology and acquiring name, fame and wealth are we enjoying ourselves without hurting others like how we used to in our childhood days? I don’t have answers to this question…. Maybe I will write about that some other day when I get answer for that 
Forgot to mention the music of Malgudi Days, the ‘Ta Na Na… composed by L Vaidyanathan its just soothing to ears and feels like a first rain of the monsoon, Couldn’t help but ended the last phrase with my heartfelt admiration for Malgudi again and again, now watching Malgudi days before i go to bed has become my daily routine, good and simple things touch our heart like this....
