Take A Chill Pill

You as a woman are left wondering, “Are you a feminist or are you traditional?” As a mother you wonder, “Are you doing too little or too much?” As a girl you wonder, “Should you be ambitious or homely or both?

I am sure men undergo the same kind of doubts, with the changing views about relationships.

There are pressures at work, at home, at the gym, at the park! There are activities you want to pack in, but your day just does not seem to squeeze in all that you want to do! You feel life is slipping by and you are falling behind in the race to success. You are afraid that you will not get another chance at doing all those deeply held desires you have. A lifetime seems insufficient.

Withdraw for a moment from all stimuli that bombards you. Your television, your newspaper, your social media accounts. They are all overburdening your senses with persuasive messages that vie with each other to get your attention. This creates Drama in your internal world and you are left wondering where to go and what to do.

Check the people around you, and see if you can distance yourself a little. There is a high probability that a lot of your issues and success definitions arise out of the daily interactions and competition which happens at the subconscious level and not overtly. What you surround yourself with and talk about frequently, becomes your mental script. Lunch time gossips make you want to swirl in with the latest designer bag or, park hangouts create a craving for longer rounds. Maybe Being a part of a fitness group chat may make you feel that everyone seems to be chic and savvy except you. Being on a food group may make you feel all others can cook up a five-star menu and you are a peasant who can just roll out nothing but rotis which resemble a world map.

Take a chill pill, as the purpose of the group is to show skills and people do tend to go a little overboard!

Gather your vital dreams and goals and put yourself on a track that would bring you smiles and not frowns. Create a mentally happy picture of that, which you want to get. Break up some achievable sub-goals and celebrate them silently when you do reach them. Is there really any need to advertise every single detail?

Distance is your choice. Take an inventory of what is absolutely necessary and what can go. The ones who are playing too much on your psyche, but not contributing in any way to your life, can be given few days off or let go of forever. Bring in some sunshine back into your life. Focus on the supportive elements of your life and spend more time with them, instead of chasing that which eludes you why not be content with that which is provided to you.

Develop a new hobby at periodic intervals. Something that is different and non-challenging. Read a children’s comic or watch a kids’ movie just like that. Take up knitting or crocheting or swimming or gardening. It will be your sojourn to rejuvenate. Anything that will put you out of that slumber of restless anxiety.

Make yourself your best development project and work on it consistently. You came into this world with your beautiful self. You have to maintain yourself and, you will have to exit content with only and only your lovely self. Make the best of it by minimizing the drama

Mentally ground yourself to find the true you and get to your core beliefs and goals. De-clutter all the mediating circumstances which create your conflict. This will bring in your focus which is a much-needed thing for you to cope in the world and find your path where you can march with purpose.

Remember god helps those who helps themselves.

When we realize

When we realise from the bottom of our heart that we need to change our path, the universe sends us a guide, a Guru to delve within. He / She teaches us to meditate and introspect, to turn within and embark on the journey to self-realisation.

Once you embark on this journey, with greater depths, as you travel deeper and deeper, you realise that God lies within you — there is no difference between you and God — you merge with universal consciousness.

As you do this, you learn to pray for the benefit of all, not just selfish prayers— these prayers are actually heard and start working as you become an empty pipe for the flow of universal consciousness. This is when your whole life becomes like a prayer for the benefit of all and not just for yourself.

Most of us think of a higher power when we are in trouble, exams coming, job interview round the corner, serious sickness, family problems and so on and so forth. Something within us tells us to pray, even though we do not know how — but a silent appeal goes from within, it goes in anguish and someone up there hears the pain, the universe feels the vibrations and a solution comes to you. These are signals for you to change your direction. But the moment the problems is solved you are back to your good old ways. This problem–prayer cycle goes on and on till you ultimately realise that you have to submit to a higher power to lead a peaceful and happy life.

What is that higher power, is it outside of you or within yourself?

My Best Friend

It is said that books can be your best friends and your window to the outer world.

It is a friend with whom you can talk day after day. I will honestly say this friend has been with me for many years and wont leave my side until my last breath.

I still remember my dad buying lot of books and magazines, it is those colorful pages and pictures which drew me towards reading. I used to insist my dad to read and he in turn used to reply, you need to read to understand and analyze things.

I was also fortunate to find a life partner who shared my love for books; we bonded over them and still do(Till day we havent read the same genre that topic is for another day. ) His first book gift to me was Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead, a book which i have fallen in love with  many times and in many ways.

I see my 8 year old engrossed in reading and at times lost in the world of words, and my 4 year old amazed at her board books and the pictures. To me, this is a good start.

When I was growing up I was taught that books are the most prized possession one can own materialistically, far more important than any jewellery or estate. For books have words that have the power to make one visualize, dream, and change, not just us but the world as well. As a parent, I will get the greatest satisfaction when my children also realize this.

Reading is like travelling the world and often beyond – without a suitcase and a passport. And the sooner this journey begins, the better it is. Like everything else, reading requires passion and dedication.
